this would not be “fearful” if dei policies didnt explicitly advance under qualified candidates specifically based on the color of their skin. meritocracy is best because i dont think black people are too dumb to meet the same qualifications on merit.

DEI ≠ people who don’t deserve the position are given the position. Why are conservatives so dumbbbbbbbbb💀

They don’t lower standards. Exam scores aren’t the only things taken into consideration when a candidate is being evaluated. Especially in the medical field where they need PERSPECTIVE of people from all backgrounds to evaluate a diverse range of patients. A black kid that made it out of the trenches and became a doctor has a different perspective than an Asian guy who was in prep school his whole life and never even worked a job.

What do you think DEI / Affirmative action is? Its a systematic advantage given to people of color to compete with others. In Ivy Leagues, that looks like an Asian w/ 1550 SAT getting rejected in favor of a Black person w/ 1350, based on a score given to the application. In medicine, it looks like lower MCAT and med school standards, again, specifically based on the color of your skin. Just because the color of your skin is different does not mean you should have different standards to qualify.

Literally yes. It is been well documented especially in the Medical field with MCAT scores.

Nah I don’t play victim. It’s just extremely well documented and you guys act like conservatives have no point. And the point is not “ohhhh i’m scared of a black doctor” because Ben Carson is a fucking legend and living proof that black people dont need the lower standards to gain systematic advantages - in college, medicine, or aviation.

First of all, 1,200 on the SAT is above the national average, second of all, that isn’t a DEI policy, that’s affirmative action, third of all, the difference in the mean MCAT score between the highest and lowest is 10 fucking points (not even lmao)…

Yeah DEI and affirmative action are largely the same thing. That doesnt explain why you think the standards should be different specifically based on the color of your skin. National average in SAT score is highly irrelevant to college acceptance. Do Harvard and JMU have the same SAT requirements? No because the difficulty in curricula is entirely different, thus requiring higher SAT scores at Harvard. Unless of course, you have a specific skin color

Also, the MCAT would also apply to affirmative action because it’s to get access to med school. DEI refers to employment opportunities…

If anything I trust black doctors almost more because they had to work twice as hard to get to where they are

What do you think Medical School is? it’s not just sitting in a classroom, it’s literally the step needed to be employed and practice medicine

you ignore what it actually does - make it easier and lower standards, specifically based on the color of your skin. if dei didnt exist i would agree wholeheartedly with that point

You’re missing the part that DEI, when it’s implemented correctly, doesn’t lower standards for people of color. Every pro DEI person I know believes the standards should be the same.

It’s unfortunate some companies/ schools have but that’s not the point.

Perspective, especially in the case of medicine (with little exception), should not triumph over an examination specifically designed to test one’s knowledge of medicine. This is to say, regardless of perspective, you should be able to fairly compete in the field of medicine by meeting the proper qualifications, including MCAT scores
