Tariff revenue can never go to zero. That would mean we’d stop all global imports. If that ever happens then we have bigger problems

the purpose of tariffs is to reduce imports… that’s what tariffs are for. yes it wouldn’t ever go to literally zero, but the nature of tariffs is that if they are working, tariff revenue will go down.

That’s traditional tarrifs. Trump’s Tarrifs are much different and better. It’s more-so additional revenue generation for the United States.

There’s no way to back it up, you’d just have to wait till the end of his presidency lol. Yeah the Tarrifs are high as fuck rn to certain countries but trump isn’t going to keep it like that forever. Once he gets what he wants then he’ll lower the Tarrifs to the exact point where it doesn’t stop the flow of goods into the United States but also is enough to reward American citizens.

how does making prices on things more expensive reward American citizens? tariffs are bad. there’s no economist in the world that thinks tariffs are beneficial in a modern economy.

They help the economy by giving local businesses a better shot against cheaper foreign imports, which can mean more jobs and growth at home. Even if we don’t receive a Tarrifs refund checks still better for us in general

except the reality is tons of small businesses are failing right now due to increased costs. the US is a developed nation, we don’t make everything here and that’s fine. what these tariffs mean is higher prices on raw materials for domestic companies, and higher prices across the board for consumers.
