American evangelicals will have a great schism before they turn away from trump. Prove me wrong. Please. 🙏

Don’t politicize this. It speaks well of Pope Francis that he was willing to meet with a foreign leader in spite of being gravely ill. Also, he decided to be among the people blessing them in his final moments rather than stay in the hospital. Yes, Vance could learn from the Pope about what leadership, humility, and diplomacy look like, but so can we.

One thing I liked from Pope Francis is that even when he was in critical condition in the hospital he continued calling the people in Gaza afflicted by the war (which he did regularly). He knew that his personal suffering was only a small part of the suffering that other people around the world were experiencing and thanked God that his physical suffering allowed him to become closer to the suffering of others

everything about the pope is political. the vatican operates like it's own country and influences global politics, economics, international relations and more. idk how anybody thinks organized religion isn't political at it's core

yeah sorry agree with number three. pope francis spent his last few weeks calling out the trump administration for their lack of everything you like about the pope.

The Pope doesn’t fit in left-right politics. Yes, he believes in helping the marginalized and is critical of capitalism (as have been many Popes before him). But, he also opposes same sex marriage, abortion, IVF, contraception, surrogacy, porn, transgenderism, gender ideology, Marxism, etc. And your post is wrong in that it implies the Pope was scornful towards Vance (whom I personally don’t like). He chose to meet with him, albeit in a limited capacity because of his illness, because

The Pope is still a world leader. And he chose to gift Vance with a tie and rosary. Vance might not be the best guy in the world, but he’s not the anti-Christ.

Another mistake you made was calling the Pope infallible. Not all of his actions or words are infallible, only certain ones. So, even if the Pope did show contempt for Vance, it wouldn’t have been infallible.

so so first off, your last comment makes your first comment completely irrelevant bc you just explained the how the papacy is political. just bc he isn’t left-right, doesn’t mean they’re not political. (especially bc they’re political views are shared publicly pre-papacy). second of all, calling vance the anti-christ was a joke and i can’t believe it flew so far over your head. third, there’s not one single comment on this thread where i called or implied that the pope infallible.

at the end of the day, pope francis did not like what the trump administration stood for. he’s been calling them on their shit since 2016. if you think that he was scornful, that’s your own opinion. i think he’s acting courageously in the face of a shitty administration ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

nobody said he fit neatly into left-right politics. nobody said he was left or right wing. you're arguing with ghosts. ppl have pointed out that the pope's words (some of his last) were basically lecturing vance on compassion. that's how he chose to spend some of his final hours - and there's something morbidly humorous about the coincidence. relax
