I despise the people who are like “what’s with all the young people suddenly saying they have POTS and they need canes and wheelchairs” and automatically assume it’s because they’re faking it and totally not because POTS can be caused by viral infections

Same with mental illnesses, “oh during COVID these people saw all these things online about mental illness and now they all have some disorder” or they all caught a virus that affects the nervous system? “People are suddenly dropping dead o heart attacks, it must be the vaccine” or maybe they caught a virus that affects the cardiovascular system?

There are definitely a lot of people faking it but that doesn’t mean it’s not a real illness affecting people

There is a big problem of self disgnosis so we need to get them tested

Even if people are faking it, so what? Doesn’t bother me, more attention to the real disorder. Are people annoying? Sure, I get it. But being sick is fucking annoying, i don’t really care. I care if people push pseudoscience and misinformation about what heals these problems, about what disorders cause what, what symptoms are what. But guess what? Those people are regularly put on the spot about their ignorance. Like, use a cane, get a dog, get the diagnosis, take the meds, whatever man.

Do you have any evidence that POTS self-diagnosis is a big problem?

It’s just rude to the people who actually have it

I really hate people who self diagnose it’s one of the most disrespectful things you can do to someone actually suffering from these conditions.

You are aware that you can’t get resources without an actual diagnosis, right?

Many people claiming vaccines gave it to them

Where are you finding this information, and is there any evidence that they don’t actually have POTS?

If it makes you feel better, that’s what medicine is for. If doctors are regularly fulfilling people’s wishes and wants, good they swore to do no harm. If you want attention, I hope you get it. It’s a non issue fr

Right! I don’t have POTS but I do have a number of mental disorders (plus tics) that people sometimes accuse me of faking, and I really wish they would just shut up and stop acting like they know more about my health than me or my providers

The same people who go “everyone is autistic now🙄” will literally ask me if I autism. No, I do not, I do not care if I do, and because I know you don’t really care either. It’s so weird.
