It’s actually a holiday for both him and the indigenous people. We wouldn’t be here and have our country if he hadn’t come here. The purpose of the holiday is to celebrate that. Not just the man. The us has a good and bad history.

columbus day is specifically honoring columbus and more generally italian heritage. if we wanted it to be about everyone’s history we’d make like mexico and call it “Day of the Pluircultural Nation”
