 My great grandmother immigrated here and changed her last name to appear less Irish during ‘Irish need not apply’ times. If she immigrated that way today it would be grounds for deportation. So many anti immigrant peoples families pulled the same shit lol

yup same. my last name is beyond italian, but it’s pronounced completely different now because they made it more american lmfao people actually say it the right way sometimes and I don’t even bother “correcting” them

Yup, my grandparents did the same to appear less German. Anyone who knows about the history of this country should obviously be ashamed of what this admin is doing
