it’s one thing to be critical of christianity, it’s another to do it on a holiday. i personally don’t believe in it, but a lot of my family does and it’s just blatantly disrespectful to bring up any of my criticisms because, while true, people are allowed to believe what they want to believe, that’s what freedom of religion is. time and place
thank you. i rarely attend church unless i have to and today my sister got confirmed so while being confirmed is not a big deal to me, it is to her and my family and i’d rather be there for her and show my support than sit and wallow in my own criticisms. obviously the church has done egregious things, there’s no denying, but they’ve also done good things and have helped people. i don’t want to ruin a big moment for them because of my own beliefs
idk who was downvoting this is the most basic idea of compassion i've ever seen. don't change, you're thinking right. being able to have your own opinions and still respect others with different opinions is a trait all too rare in society these days, and frankly your relationships (ESPECIALLY FAMILY) are far more important than any difference of opinion you could have.
