The tax writeoffs in the US were made at a time when the tax rate for the wealthiest Americans was 91%. That was before boomers could vote (~1950s) and was the “golden age” they’re so nostalgic about.

It’s important to remember that the tax rate back then for the poorest Americans was 20%, on what would be about the first $40k in 2026 dollars

So… affordable college, $405 spending on healthcare per capita (adjusted for inflation), house prices under $100k (adjusted for inflation), and a commodity currency system which actually checked the government’s ability to simply create more money?
