Hey everybody!! If you’re protesting today, please keep these things in mind. There will be cops there chomping at the bit to arrest you, so don’t engage with agitators, don’t let anyone near brick piles if you see them (they were probably planted there)Don’t talk to cameras, unless you KNOW what the fuck you’re talking about and are ok with having your thoughts taken out of context by news outlets. Bring safety gear in case things do escalate, and the protest is tear gassed. In the unlikely case that you get arrested, don’t resist. It’s not fair, no, but you can’t take that up with them there. You CANT. you will get hurt.
Idk about “brick piles” that def sounds planted but I don’t love this messaging about “not agitating” in general. Idk I feel so mixed. That being said I think even if no one does shit the media will do what the media does and the right wing politicians will do what they do. They’re gonna claim violence and terrorism regardless of how peaceful and non disruptive it actually is
I’m not trying to say there are gonna be people trying to “agitate”, what I was talking about when I said “don’t engage with agitators” is people who are clearly there to counter protest, bc that happens quite often at these kind of events and often ends in fights that cops get to break up
Maybe agitating at a rally where the organizers are collaborating with cops isn’t the best place but it’s like it feels confusing because that’s their goal. Their goal is to prevent people from actually disrupting and so it feels wrong to go with it I guess at least in my soul lol
No you’re all good u didn’t use it wrong it can just refer to either I think. Both counter protesters but then also when people say like “outside agitators” they’re often referring to non peaceful protestors and/or like feds trying to be the starters of shit but then it’s like used to do what that screenshot is saying where people will police others who are legit just trying disrupt.
