yes because the present US government is on Russia’s side. supporting Ukraine is not “US imperialism”, ukraine does not want to be part of Russia, helping them not become part of Russia is objectively good. we literally signed a deal with Ukraine and Russia saying we’d defend them in exchange for nuclear disarmament.
British rule of HK was genuinely preferable, because the people of HK had developed a distinct identity and wanted democracy and such. That’s why there were gigantic protests when China broke the terms of the deal for returning Hong Kong. Of course now anyone who doesn’t bend over for the CPC just gets kidnapped and murdered.
you think all schoolteachers and intellectuals were pro-warlords? like you do realize that millions of people were blanket proscribed as members of “enemy” groups based on occupation, family etc. right? a hot take but maybe embracing youthful vigilantism and essentially encouraging violent infighting (as opposed to via ideas) isn’t a productive way to rebuild your country after decades of brutal warfare and a horrific invasion.
intellectuals were literally as a group designated the 9th of the “black categories”. many persecutions were simply a means for ambitious party members to get rid of others they disliked or whose positions they coveted and the like. cults of personality are also reactionary.
