It’s been a long-time coming, Henry ford and the creation of the car industry + the comparatively significantly heavier investment in highways versus upgrading railways back in the mid-20th century really made the choice

That is genuinely crazy tbh Yes I know that it’s done by poor labor, taking peoples land, etc. And most Chinese don’t use them more than 1-2x as year, similarly how we don’t fly more than 1-2x a year. But it’s still just like “okay now if you want to not take a car, you don’t have to”

I mean don’t act like republicans were investing in public transportation of any kind 💀. They actively do not want it. Dems definitely don’t fight for this shit either though lol. Progressives / left are the only ones that actively want/work toward good public transportation, i.e, Zohran

You mean when Democrats were reforming financial regulations to protect consumers, fighting tooth and nail for affordable healthcare, dealing with the aftermath of Bush’s steel tariffs, the peak of the opioid epidemic caused by OxyContin which was marketed as non-addictive by Perdue Pharma and pushed aggressively, and Middle East wars started by the Bush Admin? Almost like it began before the 2010s and Democrats were left picking up the pieces

I’m no huge fan of Democrats but also 2010 is when the tea party took over the house and Obama never had a democratic Congress again

Just a friendly reminder that the continental United States is about twice the size of the EU.

Yes, with Republican controlled congresses who decided to block everything.
