Did she? If so, I still don’t care because Rama Duwaji (that’s her name if anyone’s wondering) is 28 so that would be like half her lifetime ago and we all did dumb shit when we were 14.

God forbid someone says something really stupid before their brain fully developed or before that word became extremely offensive… Don’t get me wrong. It’s a horrible word to say, but you can’t lie and say people didn’t become more sensitive to at a later time. People love to pick and choose what they’re gonna get offended by based on who’s saying it😭😭😭😭😭

1. She’s not even the mayor. They don’t have any actual dirt on the guy so they’re grasping at straws. 2. She was 14? Hello. Everyone does dumb stuff when they’re 14. That’s why they’re considered children.

Well I think it’s more that the whole party thrives off of finding shit from 20 years ago and ending careers over it (James Gunn, Roseanne Barr, Josh Hader, Megan Amram just to name a few) and there’s a bit of hypocrisy. Everyone says Mamdani can do no wrong and they’re in love with him when in reality him and his wife are flawed as well

The discussion is that people are too quick to dismiss people when they express their feelings about her saying that. Ppl shouldn’t immediately get let off the hook for saying a literal SLUR before even acknowledging that what they did was wrong even if they were young. Instead people are focusing more on the people being offended than the actual wrong doings of the accused. I don’t care what type of time it was back then, it’s hurtful and ppl are allowed bring it up and ask for accountability.

And it’s not VERSUS ANYTHING the president is a rpist pdo and deserves to be hung and the fact that she decided to tweet that is coming to light because actions have consequences and some ppl learn that even later in life

i'm not even concerning our president. yall are pick and choose regardless. you're defending this lady because she's a democrat's wife, yet if anyone else gets brought up about saying a slur when they were a young teenager it's an immediate issue and "people never change!!!" yall are weird and pick and choose

upvote 0 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #15 16w

well, yes. some people really don’t change. you judge their actions based on if that’s still who they continue to reflect as a person. if she’s learned from it and doesn’t say it anymore, why should she continue to be dragged through the mud? however, the people who’ve been exposed yet still align with those beliefs are the ones we should be worried about. she clearly has learned from her past, we cannot say the same for other people using slurs as well as the “president”.

If Donald Trump said the f slur when he was 14 and then never did anything homophobic again in his life it would be fine. But we know how he feels about the lgbt community. And he’s a pedophile trying to claim that gay people are the only pedos to worry about so his supporters will overlook when hardcore evidence resurfaces of him fucking a 12 year old.

as they should be, she hadn’t apologized for it and people were unsure if that was who she still reflected as a person. it’s never okay to make racist remarks, and people should absolutely be held accountable for that. she has since apologized and people are cooling down, but i believe it sends a good message that you can’t just say stuff like that and get away with it. your life doesn’t need to be “over” per say, but you should absolutely ALWAYS be held accountable.

I completely agree, but there are people whose lives are completely destroyed because they said something stupid when they were 12 yet, somehow we still have a president who’s an actual pedophile on multiple accounts and it somehow still able to run the country… neither are correct but I think one definitely takes priority. I don’t know about you, but I said things when I was younger that now as a full grown adult could never imagine thinking.

I completely agree that slurs were always horrible, but it doesn’t mean in the past there weren’t different social circumstances or more common uses of these words. so while they’ve always meant something disgusting at a certain point people weren’t taught that they were that bad. As unfortunate as it is.

And by the way, I wasn’t claiming that people are too sensitive to slurs however when slurs became more problematic, people became more sensitive to them, and when slurs were more normalized, people were less sensitive to them. That’s just the way it works.
