Do you experience microagressions every single day? Does your country and state legislate your existence? Do people purposely refer to you incorrectly because they know it will affect you? Do people call you slurs regularly? Do you experience a disproportionate amount of violence? The experience of a trans person is something a cisgender person will never understand. Just because you’ve been bullied before doesn’t mean you know what it’s like to experience our systematic oppression and abuse.

people don't refer to trans people 'incorrectly' because it will effect them (don't even let it who cares what other people say about you? i sure don't), they refer to them the way they think is correct. if someone looks like a man i'm gonna call them a man, and vice versa, people aren't mind readers they just use their eyes and make inferences.

none of this has anything to do with what this person said and frankly i'm confused why everyone’s responding to them trying to make an actual argument. they made two claims, 1) they are told to kts regularly 2) they are not transgender. i don't even know what the point they're making is so i'm not sure what we're arguing with them for 😭

i also think the argument you're making is kind of bad because it presupposes that there's a "trans experience" when i really think there are just many different human experiences. i'm trans and almost none of what you listed applies to me. cis ppl who are regularly bullied 100% have a worse time than i do interacting with others. having people be horrible to me isn't part of my identity and i don't like the insinuation that every trans person experiences more harm than cis ppl

Again, this just shows how little you know. People *do* in fact purposefully misgender and deadname trans people to cause harm. There’s plenty of evidence out there showing that deadnaming and misgendering has negative effects on mental health, but cis people don’t care. If you can call someone by a nickname or start calling a woman by Mrs when she gets married, then you can use someone’s proper name and pronouns.

If you are a trans American and none of this applies to you then you live under a rock. My state literally just removed civil rights protections for trans people. The US government just classed trans people as terrorists. I encounter people calling me all sorts of horrible things and making threats to me on a daily basis. So maybe you live a nice life, but that’s not the reality for most of us.

i didn't say NONE applies to me i said most doesnt. i'm american so my country is obv legislating my existence but i'm in a blue state and i pass so nothing else applies. i'm not trying to erase your experience so im not sure why you're trying to erase mine by saying i must live under a rock. my entire point is that people have different experiences, most of the trans people i know are not often dealing with violence or slurs from strangers.

Honestly I read the whole thread and it’s because you seem like a very reasonable person that you have had a more pleasant experience, meanwhile number 6 sounds really angry at the world and is trying to be a victim so hard that they created it for themselves

maybe partially though i suspect location probably plays a much bigger role, the US is huge and i'm in a very accepting area. but i do agree that anger begets anger if thats the sentiment you're getting at

I was with you until you just tactically agreed with #8 that #6 getting called slurs is their own fault. I’m happy for you that you haven’t had that experience, but when you’ll pick meaningless bickers with those of us who have and then not defend us against actual bigots, it’s hard to keep giving you grace

And to you, I ask you what is a reasonable response to being legislated out of existence if not righteous anger? You can draw whatever conclusions you want about whether I’ve “created” my circumstances, but if you actually spent time with some real trans people, you might find that it’s often those who wouldn’t hurt a fly or wish ill on anyone who are endlessly misgendered, harassed and bullied
