It’s crazy how there’s a vaccine that literally prevents cancer and people still don’t get it or have their kids get it because they think it’s unnecessary or they’re scared it’s unsafe. Is dying of preventable cancer not also unnecessary and unsafe???

My mom said I had the choice when I was younger and I didn’t take it, still probably wouldn’t tbh since I don’t sleep around at all (body count of 0) and I’ll only ever be having intercourse with my future wife

There isn’t really a downside though to getting it

But there’s also no need for me to get it. I’m not engaging in behaviors to contract HPV in the first place, and unlike COVID, measles, flu, etc. that’s basically the only way to contract HPV. If I was sexually active id get it 100% I don’t want to give some poor girl cancer but there’s no need to do so

HPV is contracted by skin to skin contact, not by the transmission of bodily fluids. you do not need to have sex with someone to contract HPV.

If I got cancerous HPV from a handshake that’s just a skill issue at that point. Cancerous HPV is specifically transmitted through moist mucous membranes and thin skin of the genital, oral, and anal areas, with cohort study showing that hand to hand or hand to genital cancerous HPV transmission is highly unlikely. There is non cancerous HPV that causes warts which can be spread from normal skin contact but this conversation is specifically about cancerous HPV

yk it’s faster to just say you’re an antivaxxer

The HPV vaccine is recommended for EVERYONE regardless of past, current, or planned sexual activity. Even if you only plan to have sex with one partner, that doesn’t mean you’re immune to sexual assault, transmission through non-sexual contact, infidelity from your partner, or your partner contracting it from previous partners

I’m not an antivaxxer at all, i am current with all immunizations and have already got my flu shot for the year, I just don’t see the point in getting the HPV vaccine for myself
