“Free” means kids don’t have to show vouchers to the lunch lady, parents don’t have to sit and apply for free lunch. When kids are hungry, they get food. I don’t mind paying it, I will happily pay extra taxes if it means my neighbour’s kids are fed

I think that’s probably the best way My elementary school actually had free breakfast for everyone, they just wheeled in the cereal/ pastries/ mini pizzas every day. It wasn’t healthy but better than students not having breakfast (it was a poor area)

I get it though, my state started doing free lunches when I was in high school, but for us it was as simple as just the regular “lunch line” but that you just scanned your ID card and you could take one breakfast and one lunch, worked very well. Food was ass but for my poorer friends, it was food and it was security

That’s nice. Yeah it suck’s to have to use a voucher or whatever for lunch / show people you’re poor or whatnot

Yeah, I’m still so glad that my state now has it as a permanent thing for all students, no strings attached. Even though I’m not from an especially poor family, it helped my parents to know that I wasn’t ever that hungry. My mom worked two jobs and so knowing that I had at least 2 meals in the day helped her a lot
