Have had many conversations with Chinese and Indians about this. Over there cutting off family is a failure while it’s encouraged here. The cohesive family unit is the cornerstone of the strong sense of community in Asia which provides social harmony

The lack of community and social harmony here leads to stuff like mental health issues and isolation, which then proves rise to extremism and radicalization online.

Yeah that’s where our societies differ ig because in Asia they just tank it to preserve stability. But then that toughness and stubbornness is a part of the reason why China has gone past us in many ways. My friend tells me that from what she’s seen by studying here Americans would be seen as sensitive and entitled over there

ok so basically the family unit isnt cohesive to begin with. nothing to preserve. everyone loses. thanks though.

If your family is actively bullying you, you should leave them if that would benefit you. Even in Asia that happens. This post seems to primarily be talking about situations where that’s not really happening

except for the part where op says they just tank it. maybe youre right, maybe theyre right. i dont really give a shit what they do in asia because it doesnt make sense if its what op says and its just what happens everywhere else if its what you say

Idk it’s just interesting how other cultures are. China seems to be on the rise rn while we collapse so there’s lots of stuff going around abt how their culture is better and those hardcore practices that we criticize are what make them very successful

I don’t agree with OP on that part. I’m mostly talking about what the person in the pic said. And in this case, the concept of family being a cohesive unit far into adulthood is shared between both East Asia and South Asia

no most of East and South Asia has that family oriented culture that’s a pretty huge chunk of the continent

China is on the rise comparatively because the US is struggling. Their economy is advancing and the country is developing more. They invest much more in technology and infrastructure than our government does atp
