There would be no mass immigration in Europe today if Europe hadn’t scrambled Africa like eggs 150 years ago. We would all be living peacefully in our own societies surrounded by our own people

I agree that Europe were the ones to destabilize Africa but the idea of a world without mass migration or shuffling and mixing of cultures is kind of a myth. People have been immigrating en masse and over huge distances since we first emerged from Africa as a species. There’s never been a time when humanity as a whole has simply been “surrounded by our own people,” nor would that mean we would be “living peacefully”

IMO one of the main misconceptions in immigration discourse is that migration and immigration is 1) inherently destabilizing/detrimental and 2) something that could even be stopped in the first place rather than the inevitable phenomenon it actually is.
