What if, instead of calling 🇰🇵🇰🇷 “North and South Korea” respectively, what if we called 🇰🇵 Joseon and 🇰🇷 Hanguk? It’s less syllables and overall makes a lot of sense

DPRK is pretty easy, and then you just call the place that’s not an internment camp masquerading as a country Korea.

Take out the D (pause) too because it seems like that’s not even correct

Two syllable words beat 4 syllable ones in my opinion

yeah, but DPRK is really quick to say, and it’s a lot easier for many people to pronounce, not that white people’s ease of pronunciation should really matter in the question.

That would create ambiguity because the PRK was actually a thing that did exist

I don’t know how “Choh-sawn” is difficult for anyone to pronounce. White people skill issue

And a monarchy calling itself democratic isn’t confusing?

There’s need to create ambiguity where it already doesn’t exist.

I mean the letter J making a ch-sound is absolutely a nonstandard consonant use, and the e-o being pronounced essentially as a long a isn’t exactly intuitive

There is another way of writing it (Chosŏn) but that has a fun character in it that isn’t in my keyboard
