People make jokes about little boys witnessing sexual situations (ie seeing a movie sex scene or visiting Hooters) and say “let them enjoy it” and I don’t know if they realize they’re hurting their child’s brain I also think that associating gambling with sexual gratification is extremely dangerous, especially for adolescent boys, as they tend to have poor impulse control and are an especially susceptible population to developing sex or gambling addictions

i saw Snakes on a Plane along with many other horror films with sex or sexualized scenes at 9 years old (at a friend’s house) and it definitely marred my brain of what my body should look like and made me believe that sexualized interactions with women were expected and commonplace. deadass i didn’t understand consent until after age 16 and didn’t realize i’d been sexually exploited by a boyfriend at age 14. 😐 so like… this isn’t only about little boys that see it, it’s about the girls too.

granted that’s a film, but if i saw a naked and heavily sexualized woman in an advertisement as a kid i’d have probably had the same thought: “women are inherently sexual objects that are expected to participate in sexualization.”
