I don’t consider the United States “stolen land”. It was conquered. Like every other country on this earth.

America wasn’t “conquered” and idk if u know this, the definition of conquered is basically the same as stealing💀

You guys literally broke and continue to break treaties that were agreements to stop fighting. We kept killing you in the Western states during manifest destiny because of this. We could always just resume that.

It was actually sold tbh, the natives just got finessed out of it

Doesn’t matter, the US still won. Broken treaties mean literally nothing

most land is stolen, not conquered. because humans are greedy and violent. it’s wrong everywhere and everytime it happens. not okay because it happens all the time

But it doesn’t just happen all the time, it happens literally every time. Pointing to the United States as the worst offender feels hypocritical. We’re never going to give the land back, and we aren’t going to ever be able to “make up” for it, so why bother with this moral self-flagellation?

imo, with the united states. i agree that what’s done is done—we can’t necessarily “give the land back” because it’s not like everyone is going to just up and leave. but that doesn’t mean we have to ignore the past. i think it’s important to remember our past crimes, it makes us mindful. and even though we can’t undo what’s been done, we might be able to make some things better. like land reservations and restoration and self governing treaties and other stuff. imo, we don’t have to put—

ourselves in a tiered list of who’s the worst or the most guilty. it’s just all bad. all we can do is worry about ourselves because that’s who we have control over

I understand being like “breaking treaties isn’t good.” But I didn’t break those treaties, either. In addition to the US being the winner, it happened over 100 years ago. The people whose land was conquered are dead, and the conquerors are dead too. I also hate that I’m expected to show penance for this? I literally don’t care. What happened happened

nobody is asking you to yourself admit to fault. of course you didn’t do anything. i didn’t do anything either, but i’m just saying i don’t think it’s wrong to acknowledge that our country has done wrong in the past. and as far as giving back, it’s not like anyone is asking you to go plant a thousand trees. the government has so much money that they’re spending on the wrong things instead of spending on the american people and our country, which includes native americans and the land.

its not about getting back at those who did wrong. we cant. its just about bettering the country, trying to help bring back what was destroyed. helping all of the cultures of the united states stay alive. that’s what america is supposed to be

But even then - we should give more money to the natives? For what? Because they lost a war 120+ years ago? They literally live on dedicated reservations where state laws don’t apply, they’ve built casinos, etc, and got 32 billion in 2024. We’ve been paying “restitution” for long enough

Id simply call the police - why didn’t the natives think of this? Oh wait - because they were foreign nations that were conquered by the regional superpower.

They weren’t “conquered.” There has to be fighting for that to happen and colonist could barley handle native armies

"conquered" what a joke. the majority of indigenous americans were wiped out by the nasty diseases and viruses europeans have been swapping around for centuries. natives had no immunity because they had superior hygiene (having to teach many of the colonists how to bathe and make soaps)
