I feel like almost everyone in America is considered obese and it's not always the person's fault. If you look objectively at statics, the poorer you are, the worse food you buy, the fatter you are.

im tired of this narrative from certain people of the plus size community. this is actually a fatphobic take once you research more and ignores the fact that the human body is just naturally diverse. people are naturally plus size, and some are not all due to genetics. body size is almost as immutable as skin color, eye color, height, etc. look at most developing countries — these countries tend to be poorer thus they deal with starvation and famines.

literally no im not. im saying america is probably more plus size due to genetic diversity. this also doesn’t change the fact that we are simultaneously one of the most fatphobic countries. women are half of the population and still subject to misogyny. being the majority or minority of a population doesn’t change the fact we can still be systemically oppressed

If the US’s obesity were caused by genetic diversity, we would expect less obesity than the countries where the most obese Americans have ancestors. Thats not what we see. The US has a far higher rate of obesity than most of the world. Japanese Americans for example, are far more likely to be obese than Japanese citizens.
