As someone who’s regularly interacted with the VA, that’s an organization that needed an overhaul.

“hmmm, this organization seems ineffective in certain areas, how can we fix that? yeah just cut the budget, that’ll definitely help them do a better job and not just make it even less effective”

Bunch of people being paid to be an extra cog in a machine slowing down their administrative processes. The solution isn’t always, or often “Throw more money at it”. The question we must ask ourselves is how is people’s time being spent, doing what, and what are the results? If the answer is something like “being a hinderance to their coworkers actually accomplishing the mission.” I see no need to continue keeping them employed in places where AI and tech seem to be doing a better job.

When the DOGE kids went into the VA they actually came out of it with the opinion that it’s functioning in a very efficient manner
