imagine youtube without a home page for recommendations. if you like legos, you’ll search legos and find channels you can subscribe to. let kids seek out communities, we cant let an algorithm (designed around humanities biggest weak points) recommend to children who they should be

The search algorithm is an algorithm. But yes, I think you could remove personal data from there. Like if you search YouTube on a new device without an account, it will still have search just not with YOUR data.

good point, technically the search results use it to format order, but my main concern with social media is them being recommended videos. i think if the person has to search up a string of words that reasonably suggests certain videos thats fine

I don’t know if you’ve been on YouTube recently, but they changed it so now it shows completely unrelated videos to your search that it thinks you would like to watch

i still get what i search, but i usually search for channels not titles so maybe i havent experienced it. people under 16 shouldnt be able to have videos recommended to them in the search results either. gotta be a simple key word search
