BTW people could’ve been warned abt this flood if Trump + Musk hadn’t defunded the national weather service. The almost seventy deaths are blood on their hands

Btw even Noem said that the NWS is outdated and needs an overhaul. They’re admitting that it failed

as a Texas native who lived through the worst flooding event from a single rainfall in US history, blaming this on the current administration is absolutely insane. the NWS and FEMA did jack all when my house flooded and i had to swim my drowned cat to my neighbors house. if you knew anything about meteorology, these weather events are often unprecedented. 10 year floods turn into 1000 year floods overnight. i don't like what trump did to the NPS budget, that is worthy criticism

coming out swinging with no no words makes you sound like you're speaking through emotion and not reason. you're right, early warnings do save lives, but to a certain extent. rain events are unpredictable, as today we don't know what areas will get precisely how many inches, how much debris will clog irrigation, etc. early warnings could have saved a few more lives, i agree. but a lot of people still would be lost, because those rivers flood like nobody's business during surges.

Fuck you. You don’t think slashing the services that predict these things contributed? There’s a reason double digits of people don’t normally die in floods in this country. Rain doesn’t come from nowhere, early warning saves lives.
