It definitely has. I mean, 100 years ago “conservatism” meant something VERY different. And as truthful as they may believe they are, nobody is even fully sure if they know what it meant back then. But as for the ideology of modern, American conservatives? Anyone who’s ever held these beliefs, regardless of what they were called at the time, was wrong.

Honestly don’t think they have an answer for you, the conservatives in my family would say “tradition” and cause they don’t know how to think otherwise
