That completely different. You choose to bring children into this world. You should never be choosing to bring children into this world if you can’t afford 3 healthy meals a day per child. People are on snap because they make bad financial decisions as adults, children don’t deserve parents who selfishly brought them into this world while poor
Because it stems from poor people having children. I’m sorry but I think it’s wrong to have children when you’re living in poverty. If you’re living off the government why are you having children??? It’s proven that children who grow up in poverty have less opportunities and typically live the rest of their lives in said poverty. It’s selfish and not ok. If people only had children when they can afford to feed their kids school lunches wouldn’t be necessary
Yeah, poor people shouldn’t have children. Have you seen a neighborhood riddle in poverty? Needles on the ground where children play? Kids getting beat cause their parents are on drugs? Kids starving because their mother uses all their benefits on stupid shit. I’m not saying ban people from having children when they are poor, I’m saying that people should be responsible and stop having children unless they are financially stable. I’m not sure why that’s controversial
because you’re whole mindset is basically saying “don’t help the poor kids because their parents should have never had them in the first place” i understand that’s your opinion but its rooted in classism. just because someone is lower class doesn’t mean they can’t live a fulfilling life. i grew up poor and DID get free lunches from my school. now i’m getting a degree, my family OWNS a house now, we all worked our asses off and do you really think my parents shouldn’t have had me?
I literally grew up poor and lived off school lunches. I’m not speaking from an entitled point of view, I’m speaking because I’ve watched my siblings suffer. I’ve watched my friends suffer. I’ve watched my community suffer. You are a RARE exception. Most people born into poverty never leave it and I will always resent my parents for being selfish for being me and my siblings into this world when they couldn’t even afford to have children
This feels so removed from any human emotion that it’s genuinely weird. You can be poor and create a loving home for your children. You can be born with addiction or a genetic predisposition to addiction. Many parents willingly starve so their children don’t. My own mother grew up in the projects. Her and her siblings all made sure their kids wouldn’t. My grandfather sent my dad and his siblings to Catholic school and worked multiple jobs just to afford it.
So many parents all over make sacrifices to give their kids a loving household and a good childhood. More people than you think break out of poverty. While not all, millions of blue collar workers are doing exactly what you say is a rare exception. Many of our soldiers come from poverty and go in for stable employment and affordable education.
i’m sorry for what you went through, but i think this is definitely causation vs correlation. you can have a loving and supportive family while also being poor. i was lucky enough that my parents always supported me and helped me and my special needs brothers even when we were paycheck to paycheck and crammed in a tiny two bedroom apartment. i never resented it because they fostered an environment i learned how to grow in.
when I was in elementary, my parents were considered middle class. but they had five kids in school at the same time and both of them worked, so money and time were both a bit tight. my school provided free lunches and it allowed just enough wiggle room for all of us to thrive. I can’t imagine what it must be like for children growing up with less money and not having that safety net of free lunch. Kids should not go hungry
You realize our ppl cannot get out of poverty and are entrenched in inescapably underfunded underserved communities because… there are people actively preventing it from being cleaned up and provided for? parents divorced when i was in 2nd grade. dad was great in single fatherhood until became an addict. mom used WIC after the divorce to support us while waiting tables at an old Lone Star (rip) until she finished her degree to get a good job to support us & then married again too…
also like… don’t you think getting ripped away from their families at any age or finding out it happened as an infant would cause lifelong horrific trauma that’d haunt the children right?? i mean… are you not aware of the historical precedent of what you are saying?! because that has happened already… with Indigenous American children being taken to boarding schools, after their families were forced into poverty by being marched away from their tribal lands they’re from to unfamiliar Oklahoma…
They won’t starve if they are removed from poverty and placed with a family that can feed them 3 healthy meals a day. Starving is not the only alternative. I was removed from poverty as a child and place with a family that fed me 3 healthy meals a day, as should all children born to parents who can’t provide that
Most kids that are removed from families grow up in the foster system and if they’re not adopted end up in poverty. I’m happy you had a different outcome but many children in the system don’t get adopted and are abused, assaulted, sometimes in a worse situation than they were previously. If you want to advocate for this authoritarian approach then the foster system needs to be fixed, though if you act anything like how you’ve acted here in real life I can’t imagine many people will care to liste
Also you are completely ignoring the point I made about circumstances changing unexpectedly. While I agree some people just shouldn’t be having kids I’d much rather those kids be fed than be starved, especially when my country has the money to help them but instead wasting it to bomb children in Iran
i can’t imagine suggesting such horrific things for fun, let alone following it up with “it’s a matter of a opinion anyway who cares” like buddy, there are people in power who actually think like this.. not to mention that it has already happened before to Indigenous children being taken from their homes and their tribes within the last lifetime. Those adults are still haunted today by what the US did to their families.
