my mom worked three part time jobs…. three because none of them had enough hours for her….. part time jobs don’t provide you health insurance……. i also was working almost everyday after school to help with bills lmfao that shit literally saved our asses and helped us get to where we are today, so it really hurt us so badly because even if you can’t work for whatever reason (literally none of our business), you should be able to have insurance and food

Grew up on implies when they were younger. After my parents divorced implies a while ago. They are not talking about now, they may have a job now. They’re not saying they benifit from those things currently, but did in the past. You said you should get a job and work, as opposed to needing those benefits. Well they didn’t say they needed them now, just when they were younger. So you imply that as a child, op should “get a job and work.”

I’m sorry yall went thru that. But again the bill wouldn’t have affected yall. It isn’t aimed at people like your mom or you. It’s focused on able bodied adults without dependents who aren’t working at all. If someone’s already working part time it wouldn’t apply. The goal isn’t to punish struggling families, it’s to make sure the system isn’t being abused by people who could work a full time job but choose not to

Again. It applies to able-bodied adults with no kids who are doing nothing. If you’re working, in training, or can’t work for LEGIT reasons, it doesn’t affect you. This isn’t about being cruel, it’s about accountability. Helping people shouldn't mean creating a system where someone contributes nothing and still receives full benefits. If you're able to work, there should be some expectation to contribute. Otherwise, the burden just falls on the people who are already doing their part.

Is it fair that your mom worked 3 jobs to survive while a healthy 25yr old who refuses to work still gets benefits? That's the issue. Your mom earned support by putting in the effort. Thats the intent of the bill, is making that 25yr old accountable and to contribute to society and earn their benefits than being lazy. it's about fairness, not punishment.
