Here’s my pitch: - Gender neutral bathrooms - Stalls must have no more than 6 inches of gap from the ground or the roof - No more than 1/2” gap in panels - All stalls are big enough for wheelchair users (no more disability stalls) Thoughts + additions?

The Europeans have bathrooms down perfectly. Fully enclosed, gender neutral, the only thing they do that I don’t agree with is make you pay to use them

My only critique is that making all stalls big enough for wheelchair users might make bathrooms cost/space prohibitive for a lot of places. What if your small restaurant only has enough room for a non handicapped bathroom? Should they just not be allowed to build the bathroom? I feel like rules that mandate a certain reasonable number of handicapped stalls within a certain area may be more reasonable here.

I feel like in cases like that you can just have a single stall, conventional bathroom, if your small business can’t afford a big bathroom then just don’t build one

We only really do that in Europe (at least where I live) when it’s a public service bathroom, because someone has to clean the bathroom and it *theoretically* prevents people from trashing it

if your small business can’t provide a handicapped bathroom, you shouldn’t have a bathroom.
