IMO the problem is not all churches, but rather those who exploit the no tax loophole to do crazy shit. Like some local tiny church shouldn’t be taxed but this fucker who has a private jet for allegedly spreading the word of Jesus should be taxed to all hell.

I’m not sure if churches can make up that deficit actually. But as long as they’re non profit and a salary cap for workers is in place then I think they’re chillin as is

definitely not enough to match the trillions of dollars the us spends in federal outlay, but certainly a significant figure. interesting to think abt but I guess I also don’t know why they’re still tax exempt (aside from the obvious support of religious organizations ingrained in our govt, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a true evil)
