That’s the motivation of all private enterprise, return on investment. Your inability to reconcile that motivation with society’s reputation of producing actual useful goods is showing. Just because making money is the motivation doesn’t mean it’s all a rip-off. Cancer devices are still being researched, should they stop the research because the companies want to return money to shareholders and sell their devices to hospitals?

It’s very clear that at the very least not all industries should be ran for-profit because it’s a money dump getting healthcare insurance and company executives rich while Americans suffer with below-average healthcare
