The problem is we need a way to sort out people based on 2 ways: skill based and refugee/fleeing violence based. We literally cannot just accept whoever anymore because 1. It’s much easier to immigrate now and 2. the U.S. is much more settled than it was

Also, it’s definitely NOT easier to immigrate now, considering all you had to do at Ellis Island was show up and not have ringworm. No ID necessary

Yes I know, that’s why I wrote this post. However I don’t agree with giving amnesty to economic immigrants who manage to evade the law for a couple of years, if we did that then the whole world would want to illegally immigrate here

I don’t even think amnesty is on the table anymore tbh. This admin would never allow it. What we need to do is fix the immigration system so that it’s actually possible to migrate here legally
