I love this country and that’s why I’m fighting to defend it. Not from immigrants, or trans people, or “commies” but from Hate, Greed, and the same rhetoric that sent us on a course of “liberty and justice for all”

I can’t just move, I’d need to get a job in another country first and they don’t want to hire some young person who’s not even in their country yet and who has not had a chance to have a super desirable work history or anything, they could easily find a million better people in their own country

Oh so you’re telling me that your opportunity’s are better here ?

No they’re shit here. I’m saying it’s harder to get hired overseas when you’re not even in the country in the same way where it’s harder to get an in person job across the country, esp early in your career. They want someone nearby and not to have to jump through these hoops and wait for you for some entry level thing.

I started almost giving up on getting something actually in my field and have applied to dozens of receptionist positions and they don’t want me bc I don’t have years of administrative experience and they can find ppl who are prior receptionists instead istg

I was thinking at least that would be some sort of administrative experience to start on and is as entry level as it gets so shouldn’t be too hard. Nope.

I was getting hired np a few years ago still after the pandemic and before and heard back from almost everywhere and got the job every time I had an interview, now I can’t even get those same bad jobs I don’t even want with a degree

It seems like everywhere I apply has a million applicants where that wasn’t the case before. And ghost jobs.

I’m on unemployment rn and the lady I talked to said that we are in a time that is great for those hiring and awful for job seekers, esp college grads starting out in a white collar environment. She said that in the past she would be very concerned with my response rate but that now one or two interviews for every 50 applications and not getting hired until a lot of interviews has been very common with people like me.

well it can’t stay this way forever they can’t keep their same employees forever also i think we’ll eventually see the creation of new roles where AI replaces some of them

Maybe. My best friend had two back to back internships immediately after graduating, decided they didn’t want her even tho they loved her and her work. Wanted to go with someone with more experience..

But yeah it’s for sure VERY common to post jobs with no intent of actually hiring to show growth, that’s been proven

And they want direct experience. Like basically they want you to have the same exact responsibilities and same job title already. Even with things like a receptionist as I was saying. It’s ridiculous. Then they want to pay $13 an hour

And even if they don’t say that they’re probably going to get hundreds of applications or at least a lot of applications and one of them will probably have that
