if anyone was wondering: in the past, when there’s a shutdown you would come in, sign one piece of paper saying yes i am furloughed, then turn in government property and take everything u need with u. this is not the case this time

we arrived at normal call time for work, but when we got there we had no instruction. we cleaned up our office, checked our emails several times, packed stuff up, and still had an hour to just yap while we waited for our bosses to get out of their meeting. 2.5 hours into our work day we finally got two packets of paperwork to sign and return to our bosses, one saying yes we are furloughed, and another saying yes we are excepted from furlough.

because of lack of guidance it also took us 30 minutes to sign this paperwork because we didn’t know what to do with it. then we turned in our government documents, and not until we were walking out the door did we find out we are definitely furloughed. 3.5 hours into our work day. we are allotted 4 hours to do this.
