It’s not about you “burning for not joining them”. This is a big misunderstanding with Christianity. You are a given a choice to reject or accept God aka you can choose to go to heaven or hell. Hell is just where God is not.

And Jesus teaches us you are not lesser for not being Christian. He actually says we are all equal and we are all guilty
