I hate when I gently try to talk with a Trump supporter to just have a conversation about our beliefs, opposing though they may be, and they turn to insults when they run out of points to make. it speaks to the weakness of their argument.

Not a trump supporter per se but I am a republican and have no problem discussing beliefs.

It’s very true that everyone at some times chooses insults instead of intellectual debate, regardless of side. I’ve just noticed it happening significantly more with people who are on the far right - no one on the right actually seems to be interested in having a conversation, whereas in my experience, people on the left are more open to having a conversation.

That’s very good!!! I think so much can be accomplished by open honest genuine discussion between people. I know we’re both humans with empathy and values.

I’ve also noticed a lot of times things get taken out of context without having a genuine discussion. That goes for both sides. Someone can say one thing and boom it gets taken way farther than it was meant.

Yeah. The only thing I’ve found effective is establishing mutual values and just explaining things as best I can.

I think that really goes based on the person. I know anytime I put the word republican in a sentence on here I get massive hate and that’s without anyone knowing my views and not wanting to hold a conversation.
