Aliens are real. I believe. Have they visited earth? I don't believe so. Space is so vast, and life is so varied I don't believe that they've visited us. I think the probability that were the most successful organisms in the known universe is low, but I ultimately think the great filter is the intelligent life forms themselves.

I’m not usually about this kinda stuff but ya the wow signal creeps me out when you explain it like that

Thats valid tbh. My personal opinion is someone did come waaaaaaay back at least once, like back when we were getting started as humans. Then they left and there’s a reason we don’t see any signs of life, they have us sheltered somehow

I think the answer to the Fermi Paradox could literally be what we’ve been looking for. We SHOULD be seeing intelligent life everywhere. But we don’t

Perhaps maybe before humans even existed. I agree though, I think the signal idea is good on paper but just not effective enough. The answer should be atmospheric composition data, mineral data, and then ultra high resolution imaging (better than JWST which I know isn't yet possible) and then a message so we're not randomly blasting radio signals.

That’s the thing, our random blasting of radio signals should be VERY easy for them to jam, and we’d have no way of knowing it.

If they were as advanced as we seem to think they should've picked something up by now. I think that the WOW! signal was potentially of alien origin but more of a distress call because we never got a return signal.

Esp since it was in frequency of 1420 MHz which is the same frequency as neutral hydrogen. Thats a perfect choice as an SOS for an intelligent race trying to reach out to another beyond language barriers

That's the other thing, our signals are entirely too weak. They don't travel quickly enough. In an alternate universe they might've had a better conversation with us because they had time to receive our message.

Wow signal probably took hundreds if not thousands of years to get here, a one-time burst, tuned specifically in a way that someone intelligent would recognize it. It probly went in all directions like ours do, but only once. Which is very bizarre

The source is one of these 2 tiny slices in the sky. Like literally a fraction of a fraction of the sky

Such a complex thing. You think you understand and then it gets more complicated.

We’ll never know for sure what it was but imo it was WAY too perfect to be some fluke
