This case in particular is complicated. But I do think keeping her on life support was the right decision for the sole reason of the father wanted the baby delivered. The mother can’t make decisions because she’s brain dead, and what’s the point of losing 2 lives instead of one. Imagine if you were that father. Your wife and baby all at once. Sad, complicated situation.

Imagine knowing you were only born into existence bc they used your mom as an incubator while her body slowly deteriorated until the situation was so dire that you had to be extracted… also knowing that the mother had multiple other children at home waiting for her. Don’t you think those kids would resent their new sibling for not allowing their mom to die for weeks on end?

Mfs say “sad complicated situation” as if this would still be the case if not for conservative legislation

Would you prefer 2 lives lost or one? Makes no sense to lose 2 lives when you could save one.

A fetus is not a human life. If it was, we wouldn’t have birthdays, it would be conception days Even if you want to make an argument the fetus is the same as a human life, as late as this February the baby is still in the hospital and still weighs under 5 lbs. Under any normal circumstances both would be dead, not just one. And if this happens in the future, I guarantee that a baby surviving will be the exception and not the norm

And I bet you made the life of this child real easy too now. Thanks to the selfishness of so called “pro life” people, this child will struggle for years with disability and countless other complications. Infinity more painful than any abortion would have been (provided you view the fetus as a whole ass person)

But the loss of two people would be real for the father. There’s no reason to let them both die.

Humans with disabilities are not less valuable than those without. Let the father make a decision about HIS baby, and mind your business. This is probably already hard enough for him, without random assholes like you having an opinion

Did I say that people with disabilities were less valuable? Quit putting words in my mouth

Well the potential of a baby has birth defects is not an excuse to kill it. That’s some Nazi shit right there. The mother wanted her off life support the father did not. He named the baby Chance, which is beautiful. Leaves them alone and let a father make a decision about his own damn baby.

The mother of Adriana smith, and the father of the baby*

Never said anything that was Nazi shit, stop trying to poison the well. I never said anything about having a disability was something to be ashamed of, I simply pointed out that if we lived in a normal country, we wouldn’t have women being used as objects

Ok here’s a question then. Did Adriana Smith consent to her body being used to give birth after death? This should be a simple yes or no answer

Then why did you say the child would struggle for disabilities and countless other complications. Infinity more painful than an abortion. You used the potential of disabilities as a way to justify aborting the baby. That’s a Nazi way of thinking, you sick fuck.

No. Adriana smith could not have consented because she’s brain dead. Thus, that responsibility should go father of the unborn baby. The complications arise from the fact they weren’t married. So legally who does the right go to the mother or the father? I say the father, he’s got more skin in the game, and more to lose.

Buddy, I have physical disabilities. I’m not calling for all disabled people to be killed. I’m saying that a painless abortion would’ve been substantially less painful and actually respectful to the deceased

If Adriana could not have consented then it being done is a violation against her. You are defending the violation of a person’s right to bodily autonomy. Absolutely disgusting

Is Adriana was not brain dead and wanted the baby, aborted it would have been done before. It’s in no way a violation of her because she cannot make decisions on her own and the reigning decision before she was in the hospital was to keep the baby. Do you believe that hospitals shouldn’t provide the option to save an unborn fetus at all? Just let it die, fuck the father wishes? What is wrong with you?

She suffered an unexpected blood clot in the brain. Basically destroyed that man’s family and life in an instance. And people like you are screaming from the roof tops that the baby should have died also. FUCK YOU FOR HIM

Violating the consent of a dead woman bc “what abt the man” rlly is one of the hills to die on of all time

There is no reason to assume Adriana would have also wanted the baby dead. So how is it disrespecting her and anyway. The assumptions is shed want her unborn child to survive…

You just said she could not have consented to what happened. So you’re already violating her wishes by doing it anyway. Quit acting like this is what she would have wanted

Well generally when someone is incapacitated their medical decisions goes to the family or next of kin. Also a bit of a catch 22 for you, is if she couldn’t consent to having the baby alive, then HOW THE FUCK WOULD SHE CONSENT TO BE TAKEN OFF LIFE SUPPORT?

Usually when people die they are taken off life support. Ik this is a bit of a shock but that tends to be the case

They ask the family… generally the family agrees. But in this instance the father wanted to save the last scrap of the woman he loved.
