Hot take, but I really get annoyed when kids and teenagers do something bad and people say “it’s the parent’s fault”. How are kids going to learn that their own actions have consequences if only the parents get punished?

They do it in my city whenever there’s a teen takeover. The only thing more annoying tbh is the “it’s because there’s no third spaces for them.” In my city, one single museum out of HUNDREDS is shutting down (and it’s literally still open rn) and that’s a talking point for the takeover. There’s 10 other parks, a giant public library, and 10-20 museums within a mile of our city hall (where the last takeover was). Plenty of fucking third spaces, why is this part of the discussion?

That’s not even mentioning arcades, malls, etc. since a lot of them have a curfew/no unsupervised teen policy now. But how did we get to needing these policies in the first place??
