It’s like how Indo-Europeans were scared to say bear (rktos) because that would make them appear, and started using euphemisms like brown one (bero), honey eater (medved), or shaggy (lacis) instead. If you say poop that manifests it

Shaggy is an old saying for bear? My whole life has changed from this information… I thought shaggy was just a way to describe hair/fur

Shaggy does describe the hair. They would use the word “shaggy” as a euphemism for bear to avoid saying the actual word.
