I own about 40. It blows my mind that cultist fuckwads think firearm ownership isn’t more of a geographical and cultural issue than a political one. Those of us on the left choose not to make gun ownership our entire personality, and we acknowledge that reform is necessary. I literally bought a new rifle this morning. It’s a 4th of July tradition in my huge (democratic-voting and church-attending) family.

It ain’t about that. Significantly over half of all domestic terror every year is perpetrated by conservatives, by owning a gun I am in a better position to protect myself from a conservative gunman than I would be otherwise. 100 percent safe? No. And if you’re mentally unwell, or a new (or frankly experienced) parent, then I wouldn’t recommend it just for your and your kids safety. But otherwise? Strap up.
