No, I don’t. But why is it so wrong to say the full name? It’s not taboo or anything. Say it or not, idc. But sometimes the abbreviations get too confusing, especially in my field where everything under the sun has an abbreviation. Makes it difficult to keep track of everything.

Guess you missed the part where I said that everything in my field is abbreviated. It gets confusing when you have 85 different abbreviations for a single project. I often use the full names to keep track of everything better.

that’s all fine and good. but we’re talking specifically about “dna”. if you can’t “keep track” of that, then i can’t help you bro

My original point was that somebody shouldn’t be put down for using an accurate name

thats great but in that context and in almost every context there is no ambiguity in saying dna, saying deoxyribonucleic acid does nothing

sure but if youre gonna use the full name as a way to seem smarter and win a debate then you should absolutely be made fun of

Anyone who uses an abbreviation should know its original name. If you don’t recognize the original name, you should look it up or ask. It is dumb to use it as leverage, but it’s also dumb to let someone use it as leverage against you.
