Sociologically, the notion that math and science are harder than philosophy, writing and history stems from sexism. Until the 1970s-ish both were seen pretty equally, but new policy devalued arts and at the same time women increasingly went to those areas

And there is an identifiable phenomenon of women entering a field and gaining traction in it and pay stagnating or fall and men exiting that profession as it’s no longer seen as suited for men. OBGYNs are the best example

And when a job is seen as a man’s job it’s seen as tougher and harder and requiring more energy or whatever. All rooted in sexist thinking at the bottom of it

Ask any STEM major to think about philosophical concepts or write a full on mini novella and they can’t. It’s all about skills. Math and science and history, etc etc all have their challenges
