America is nowhere near ready for the discourse that will be necessary when the private equity firms and C suites decide in unison that basically all American white collar workers can be replaced by AI and someone in a foreign country for 1/10th the cost

The foreign country part already kinda happened

Hope it happens. Americans deserve it for being so fucking stupid.

Yeah was just about to say that, and how Trumps economic policies are trying to get away from that, at the cost of the consequences of tariffs

I don’t think his economic policies have done much about the migration of white collar jobs to foreign countries. Mostly blue collar jobs that produce goods, not white collar jobs that usually sell services

Not really I just think Americans shouldn't complain when they get what they voted for

Almost half of this country didn’t want this, and I think we were somewhat on this path regardless of who was in office. Obviously it’s much worse now though

To a certain extent, but not the extent it can and probably will if nothing is done about it

Neither presidential candidate had any kind of tangible strategy on this so I’m not sure what you think Americans should’ve done instead

Exactly it's both parties. Neither cares enough about the working class to actually pass regulatory policies that benefit working people. And their dumbass voters don't either or they'd vote in primaries for candidates that actually give a fuck about existential threats like AI and climate change.

Democrats didn’t have a primary and no Republican candidate was gonna do anything about those things either. They hardly had a primary anyway since Trump was basically always going to win

I'm not talking about just the president. Half of Congress doesn't even believe in climate change and would call regulations on AI in the free market "communism" and the other half just refuses to do anything

So you personally hope Americans, even those that can’t vote, suffer because of the choices some people made?

I'm past the point of caring. Especially considering how many eligible Americans just straight up didn't vote.

Voter turnout has changed none since the 20/30s

What’s the last column?

Anonymous replying to -> #1 12w

The column underlined is voting age population turnout, the last column is registered voter population turnout

Ah ok

Yeah exactly a significant portion of the population just straight up doesn't care enough to be bothered to vote.

(Hence why the last column is a higher percentage)

(As registered voters are obviously more likely to vote)
