i could maybe understand the underpopulation as an economical threat talking point if the benefit of having more kids would go to the avg person having them. but it doesn’t. so im not rlly moved to have kids i dont want so the oligarchs can have workers😑

My Fiancée and I have talked about moving to Europe for my doctorate and getting the fuck out of here since they have actual maternity leave and better child care subsidies, even for Doctoral candidates. America is becoming a terrible place to have a family

like that entire argument relies heavily on trickle down economics which hasnt worked in 40 fucking years. like kids are expensive asf. not just throughout their lives, PREGNANCY is expensive. CHILDBIRTH is expensive. just to get them here. and people cant afford groceries. like having kids is not economically beneficial for anyone😭 i hate how they phrase it like that.

im aware. im talking about the reporting going on in which anchors are painting underpopulation as a “crisis”. the lady said, “now you may think thats a good thing for the environment, which may be true…but it actually poses a bigger risk, financially”. if u want kids great! but trying to spin the reality of ppl not being able to afford them or wanting them as a global financial crisis, when having more babies would only benefit the rich and put more ppl into poverty to do so is disingenuous af

thats so smart. its kinda funny though in the grand scheme of things, all these ppl complaining about ppl coming to america to have “anchor babies”, whole time a lot of americans are trying to go to other countries to do the same thing rn😭

i like the idea of having a child but ita not feasible for me here. so. im always hoping i run into a guy with dual citizenship so we can live happily ever after and i can have a child in someplace that’ll gaf about us. or at least act like they do. i wish you guys the best with that. italy has great schools, and bc their economy is shit they would prob welcome you there and help pay. and since they’re EU, u could go anywhere else. look into sapienza! i studied abroad there, its lovely

Italy isn’t the worst choice. I’ve always wanted to live in France cause I’m Cajun but atp I’d move to like, Albania or some shit if the situation was right and the school was good
