I think it’s the former. There’s plenty of perfectly decent people who just got sucked down into Fox News or qanon or something. I know a few. They were definitely somewhat susceptible in the first place but Trump is the one who pushed all the right buttons and made them scared of the world around them and see Trump as a solution to that fear

I think they were always uniquely susceptible to evil simply because of their willingness to throw their entire identities behind a conman

(This is just most Trump supporters there are definitely flat out white supremacists and stuff who support him because he’s their best shot at advancing their goals)
