I hope you all know that majority of poc can tell that you’re racist regardless of your political affiliation. You being a “radical leftist” doesn’t automatically make you less racist than the right

Making it clear to a bunch of people who think being an “ally” or a “leftist” somehow makes them a better person or makes them the authority on oppression they don’t face

A shit ton of leftists are also Americans, where they’ve had an ideology of racism drilled in since birth. Shit’s hard to shake, and you have to shake it to be principled.

What’s your definition of principled bc it’s clearly not a global definition when there’s a lot that are racist and frankly no one wants to have to wait for someone to learn to not be racist when they’re trying to be politically involved and don’t think about how policies they vote for and suggest affect anyone that’s not white

What would you say to someone on the left who considers themself an ally and attempts to make things better however they can, despite not personally understanding the poc experience? If this is who you’re talking to, what does your statement hope to accomplish?

Principled includes recognizing racism and white supremacy as part of the same apparatus of class that privileges capitalists and persecutes workers. At many points historically, race has been used to break up workers to prevent real resistance, and without that realization class analysis in the US is incomplete.

It’s cool they’re trying but that doesn’t take away from the harm they cause. Once again whether you’re trying to be better or not doesn’t negate the racist outcome. Also are you asking for yourself or someone else? Personally I see no need to coddle or try to comfort people that are participating in creating harm just bc it might make them “feel bad” otherwise

And frankly I wish more people took that approach but when you ask a lot of people about it that’s not something they include bc it’s not something they think affects them. I’d call it “self appointed leftists” that think that but frankly every political identity is self appointed. While I do think that should be the basis we can not tell people whether or not they’re “actually a leftist” bc it is self appointed and frankly makes no difference so now we have people who are “leftists” who don’t

Follow that ideology but continue to place themselves in the space

They should stop speaking for and over POC imo. Stop with the “there is no war but class war”. Obviously class and race are correlated, but you can’t just reduce everything to class. There are other characteristics that make people’s experiences unique, such as disabilities and religion
