Also MLK did a lot of good work, but he didn’t act alone. There were plenty of riots. The black panthers actively agitated and protected. Groups actively broke the law all the time because they disagreed with it. The time was not all peaceful marches where everyone got along

MLK was a peaceful head to violet protests and riots because he provided everyone with hope. People need to get angry and riot I’ve been saying it for months

Apparently this is referring to the one in 68 (Indian Civil Rights Act, Fair Housing Act, Anti-Riot Act), not 64

Yup it was a huge for civil rights in the South AND North, had been filibustered for YEARS. From Wikipedia: “The final breakthrough came in the aftermath of the April 4, 1968 assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the civil unrest across the country following King's death….The Rules Committee, ‘jolted by the repeated civil disturbances virtually outside its door,’ finally ended its hearings on April 8…the bill (which was previously stalled) passed the House by a wide margin on April 10”
