Malls are massive 24/7 air conditioned spaces meant for high volumes of people and large parking lots to back it up. Easily patrolled by security. Put in gyms, cafes, day cares, restaurants, spas, late night spots etc…

Make it a city center type thing, those businesses would bring in way more money than 30 different vape shops

They should be completely raised and the whole footprint including the stupidly large parking lots should just be turned into a real city center with multi-use walkable development. Malls used to have all of the things you said. America has grown out of simulated walkability, we want real walkability that you don’t need to drive a car to

Most balls are already smack in the middle of suburbs so you’d still need to drive to them. Also it’s insanely expensive to raze them. Keep the building for other stuff and u can redevelop the parking spots
