
in most states, anyone running without being associated with either the DNC or RNC is not allowed to have their names on the ballot; and additionally, most states are closed primary states where you have to be registered with the party in order for vote within its primary for the general election (39 states; 13 of which require closed primaries for congressional or state level offices as well)
I do see what you mean though, so that’s very fair regarding my initial point in that comment that was a bit mistaken (apologies for that, as like you said many states did include his independent bid on the ballot), but there are still closed primaries in 39 states for the general election
(additionally, the traditional means for funding independent parties/non DNC or RNC campaigns have also been systemically interfered with. There’s normally a pool of funds dedicated for candidates that don’t receive PAC money (up to a certain percentage I believe), which both the RNC and DNC is entirely ineligible for; but there have been cases where people campaigning that do qualify for those funds were denied access to them.
