I started learning about the history of Einstein and his connections to Zionism and it’s honestly really fascinating to see how his opposition to nationalism in Europe managed to coexist with his support of Zionism. He was at one point even asked to be president of Israel. But he was simultaneously opposed to displacement and mistreatment of Arabs. Honestly a fascinating historical topic to read about. Complex man.

This goes for all nations. Einstein wanted communism and he was correct.

And his prediction that mistreatment of Arabs in Palestine by Zionists would lead to a destabilization and dispossession of Jewish communities in Arab countries was spot on.

Lowkey? If he became president of Israel the modern day levant might look pretty different but it depends on how much political power he would actually be wielding and his popular support

From what I heard, Ben-Gurion was very relieved he declined, as Einstein was very anti-militaristic and that would have led to a lot of political conflicts within the Israeli government. I imagine if it had happened, it would have been very dysfunctional
